From now until September 30, 2009 Sewn Together will be displayed at the Carlyle House. Worn by a 17-year-old girl to her 1747 wedding…restyled and re-worn again and again until, finally, cut into dozens of pieces and given to that young girl’s descendants. Come learn the story of a dress and the women who wore it. From March-October, 2009, Carlyle House will focus its interpretation on the women who lived there. The highlight of the exhibit will be the recreated 1747 wedding dress of Sarah Fairfax Carlyle and the 1795 dress made by her daughter, Sarah Carlyle Herbert.

National Treasure Tour at Mount Vernon
Admission: $5 addition to Estate admission: adults, $15.00; children ages 6-11, $7.00; and children under 5 are admitted free.

From now until October 31, 2009, the National Treasure Tour at Mount Vernon will be available. The National Treasure Tour combines Hollywood and history, giving visitors stories about the filming and also information on how the behind-the-scenes locations were used during George Washington's time. Included in this approximately hour-long walking tour is the Mansion's basement and cornerstone, the setting for a pivotal scene in the movie. The National Treasure Tours are offered at the following times: 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.

From now until May 15th, Cassini spacecraft has provided an unprecedented look at Saturn and its rings and moons since its arrival in the planet’s orbit in 2004. The images and other data returned by Cassini and its Titan probe Huygens have revealed surprising details in Saturn’s atmospheric storms, the structure of its rings, the intricate geologic patterns on its moons and even present-day geologic activity on the moon Enceladus. This exhibit consists of more than 60 views of the Saturn system ranging from sober grayscale to bright vibrant colors.

From now until May 15th, Cassini spacecraft has provided an unprecedented look at Saturn and its rings and moons since its arrival in the planet’s orbit in 2004. The images and other data returned by Cassini and its Titan probe Huygens have revealed surprising details in Saturn’s atmospheric storms, the structure of its rings, the intricate geologic patterns on its moons and even present-day geologic activity on the moon Enceladus. This exhibit consists of more than 60 views of the Saturn system ranging from sober grayscale to bright vibrant colors.

From 9am to 9pm, we celebrate the vast and fascinating history of Fauquier County.
Guests will enjoy entertainment provided by living historians, demonstrations,
performances, contests, activities, lectures, Kid’s Corner, live music, and more.

Willard Scott will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the featured historical parade at10am. Congressman Frank Wolf will serve as Grand Marshall. Guests will enjoy a
variety of entertainment from 11:30am to 1:30pm when the Commemorative Ceremony
will be held on the steps of the County’s historic courthouse.

At 3:00pm the 250th commemorative monument will be unveiled and its time capsule
sealed for the next 50 years. Cedar Run Garden Club will host a "History is our Heritage"flower show from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Three historical homes on Culpeper Street will beopen to the public free of charge.

The entertainment continues at 3:30pm and into the evening with the 250th First FridayWine Walk on Main Street from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Here, on the eve of Virginia Gold Cup,Fauquier wineries will offer wine tastings and sales, agricultural businesses will offerlocally made foods and fresh grown produce, stores and restaurants will be open,guests will enjoy live music, and more.

Sewn Together: The 18th-Century Women of Carlyle House

Come learn the story of a dress and the women who wore it. From March-October, 2009, Carlyle House will focus its interpretation on the women who lived there. The highlight of the exhibit will be the recreated 1747 wedding dress of Sarah Fairfax Carlyle and the 1795 dress made by her daughter, Sarah Carlyle Herbert.

From now until May 15th, Cassini spacecraft has provided an unprecedented look at Saturn and its rings and moons since its arrival in the planet’s orbit in 2004. The images and other data returned by Cassini and its Titan probe Huygens have revealed surprising details in Saturn’s atmospheric storms, the structure of its rings, the intricate geologic patterns on its moons and even present-day geologic activity on the moon Enceladus. This exhibit consists of more than 60 views of the Saturn system ranging from sober grayscale to bright vibrant colors.
